The scent opens soft and bright — loquat blossom with dry yuzu peel — then settles onto agarwood and sandalwood, with a cool root-herb edge from atractylodes, the herb Chinese households have burned for centuries to clear a damp room. Bright on top, grounded underneath. Nothing heavy, nothing ceremonial.

How to use
one task written on paper, phone in another room, stick lit. Work until the ember goes out — then take your break. That's one session. Burn it whenever you want a clean start; the morning is only the obvious one.

How long does one First Ink stick burn?
About 25 minutes (±3 minutes) in still air — one focus block. A steady draft across the stick will shorten it by a minute or two, so keep it out of the direct path of an open window. Most sessions hold two sticks with a real break between them.
How much smoke does First Ink make? Can I burn it in a small room?
Some — every burning incense stick produces smoke. First Ink is a solid-pressed stick with no bamboo core and no charcoal, and it burns for about 25 minutes rather than an hour, so the total burned per session is small. We recommend a cracked window, and we don't publish smoke comparisons until our independent testing is complete. More in the FAQ.
When should I burn First Ink?
Any time you want a clean start — there is no window on it. The bright loquat-and-yuzu opening reads as “awake,” not “relax,” so it suits planning, writing the hard email, or the first hour of code, whether that lands at 8 a.m. or 8 p.m. If you want something gentler, Quiet Page is the low-stimulation option.
